Confined Space Entry Training

Entering and working within confined spaces is a high-risk job! Supervisors, entrants, and/or attendants involved in Confined Space Entry should both adhere to safety standards and understand safe work practices. A workers awareness, protection, and overall safety are by far the most important aspect of a confined space operation. Hazards come in all forms from engulfment/entrapment, toxic/flammable atmospheres, or other physical/environmental hazards.

According to OSHA 1926 Subpart AA these are standards that make up a permirt required space.

  • Contains or has the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere;
  • Contains a material that has the potential to engulf an entrant
  • Has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area which could trap or asphyxiate an entrant
  • Contains any other recognized safety or health hazard, such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, or heat stress.

Underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels, and pipelines are just a few examples of confined spaces. Overall, our Confined Space Entry training is aimed at protecting workers entering and/or working within or around a confined space. This safety program establishes procedures to protect employees from the hazards of entry into confined spaces. Entry into confined spaces requires extensive training, specific monitoring, compliance with detailed procedures, and maintenance of accurate records.
