ATSSA (national) Flagger Safety Training

Over the years the highway and utility construction industry has used flaggers to direct and/or control traffic through the work zone and Southern Safety Services (SSS) has led the way since 1987. To become a newly certified safety flagger, you must attend and successfully complete the 4-Hour ATSSA (national) Flagger Training Course. One major benefit of the ATSSA (national) flagging class is that you will be nationally certified and able to flag in any state!

We offer a top-notch training program for companies to certify their employees. For companies or individuals who do not have a training facility, we may be able to provide one.

We realize the rigor and risk associated with flagging; therefore, we would like to provide your company with safe and competent certified flaggers. Flagging is not a light duty job! Here at Southern Safety Services we strive to drive concepts of safety and proper safety planning into all trainees.

The half day, 4-Hour ATSSA (national) course consists of an informational presentation, which includes discussion on the proper equipment and flagging procedures, signaling devices, work zone data, and informational videos; a 25-question quiz; and a hands-on evaluation. Your employees must pass both the quiz and the hands-on evaluation to become certified flaggers. After successful completion of this course flaggers will receive their certified flagger training card!
